Rev. Michael Williams

A Testimony

Michael is our superintendent.  He began his ministry in The Salvation Army entering the William Booth Memorial College, London SE5 in 1973.  He served as an officer until 1987. He was Commanding Officer in order of appointment to the Salvation Army Corps at Dorking, South Croydon, Jarrow, Leadgate, Portadown N.I., and Burnley Citadel. He was received as a probationer minister by transfer to The Methodist Church in 1987 and was ordained at the Cardiff conference in 1990.  Michael is married to Moira, (38 years +) they have five grown up children and 4 grandchildren.  He is interested in fly fishing,
( Favourite venue Fewston )  motorcycles Honda + Yamaha  and Information Technology.  He single handedly designed, built and now maintains this entire web site from A - Z and is always keen to make the very best use of power point in worship and preaching.  He has served on the District Council of The new Methodist London District from its inauguration.


 

Rev. Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor was ordained as a Presbyter in the Methodist Church on Sunday 25th of June 2006 after completing two years as a Probationer Minister with the London Mission (Plumstead) Circuit. Although he has been training for ministry for about 8 years, Kevin only retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in April 2005. His final post was in charge of the Emergency Procedures section at New Scotland Yard, which included multi-faith work and the training of volunteer chaplains to attend disaster scenes. He was also a police negotiator for sieges and suicide intervention. Kevin has qualifications in Anatomy and Physiology, Reflexology and Head Massage and his interests include running, fell walking, cycling, swimming and (fair weather!) motorcycling. Kevin has a son, Stuart (25yrs) who is a police officer and a daughter, Heather (22yrs) who is a qualified painter and decorator.  Kevin has the pastoral care of New Eltham church


 

Rev. Malcolm Wright

Malcolm Wright has been training for various forms of ministry within the United Reformed Church for approximately eight to nine years.  As a Nationally Accredited Lay Preacher, an ordained Elder and then studying part time at the South East Institute for Theological Education for the Ministry of Word and Sacraments.  He even took a training course called "God's Jesters" and he is happy to admit it and talk about it!  Malcolm, at the beginning of 2008, took early retirement after working for 30 plus years in the banking industry in various roles.  He is married to Janet and they have two daughters Emma who is a teacher and is married and Kirstie who is studying international development  with environmental sciences at university.


Rev. Calvin Samuel

Calvin resides in the circuit as the chaplain to Farringtons School. Before coming to Farringtons in September 2005 Calvin served in the Wandle Valley Circuit with pastoral charge of the Mitcham and St Helier churches. He was born in Barbados and grew up in Antigua before coming to England to study at the Nazarene Theological College in 1993. While working for the University of Manchester he also graduated with an MBA from Manchester Business School. Having worked as Assistant Director in Research and Faculty Administration at London Business School Calvin entered Methodist ministry and was ordained at Ipswich in 2001. Calvin's appointment at Farringtons is part time and he spends the rest of his time as New Testament Tutor at Spurgeon's College in South Norwood. He is married to Ramona and they are parents to Tiana and Fletcher.

Ms Debra Chidakwa

 Debra is our new Circuit Lay Worker and we are delighted that she has been appointed to join our team commencing September 1st. 2007.  Watch this space for a brief introduction anytime soon. She will be principally working in Sidcup and New Eltham.
